So i'm trying to enable turning capabilities for tinyg post processor.

I know it's possible because I watched this guy do it successfully https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIiGqXM8iu0

However, since this guy did it the post process dialogue box no longer has the 'Post configuration" drop down menu which gives the option of editing the post processor.

In the video he shows how he was able to adding turning capabilities to the post processor simple by adding two words to the part that says

capabilities = CAPABILITIES_MILLING

and changing it to

capabilities = CAPABILITIES_MILLING | CAPABILITIES_TURNING;

can anyone point me in the right direction for how this might within fusion? is there another place within fusion or setting i can change which will allow post processor configuration?

any suggestions welcome

thanks Jody

Hi Jody. In the video, the post processor that gets edited is for LinuxCNC and not Tinyg.

The tinyg post processor you refer to doesn't have or use those properties by the looks of it, and so when you add that line that may well cause you problems. (I don't know if they are even remotely compatible, just an uneducated guess)

One thing you can be sure of though is that the actual text is :

capabilities = CAPABILITY_MILLING | CAPABILITY_TURNING;

and NOT:

capabilities = CAPABILITIES_MILLING | CAPABILITIES_TURNING;

And this will be causing the post to fail to be read by Fusion as a viable post processor.

HTH 🙂

@Anonymous looking at your other post it looks like you're using a mac. The post dialog for the mac is different for example there's no option to open the post for editing and no paths shown to where files are stored, Apple don't want you poking around. You'll need to do a search of the forum to find the paths to the post files, when you find them copy your post somewhere you can edit it, turn on cloud posts in preferences then upload as shown in the video. Sorry I can't help more but I don't have a mac.

Thank you for your help Mark and Stuart , that's exactly the what I needed, your both amazing!

So for anyone else who has the same problem, the place to find the post processor files is here

http://cam.autodesk.com/posts/

to enable turning capability I simple added the above mentioned line (capabilities = etc) on line 23 in brackets. that worked really well.

The problem I'll need to solve next is getting the rotational axis to spit out as the A axis in the gcode.
