Your Pencil doesn't go up high enough (I don't think), and I wish my Project would go up a liiiiiitle bit more. I "think" the Project would clean up entirely, but there is no additional movement to be had, in the off-chance it leaves a slight cusp

Hi folks. I am trying to shorten cycle time by switching from a 1/16" ball mill to a 1/8" ball mill to machine the radial grooves in this part. The slot radius is large enough to do a single slot with a1/8" ball mill, but Fusion will not generate a tool path with the larger tool. Is this a limitation of fusion or am I doing something wrong?

Here's a link to the file currently setup with the 1/16" tool: http://a360.co/2gLtJ0K

Thanks,

Adam

I played with it early this morning and I couldn't get a good path laid out on it. Skipped out for a customer delivery and my long drive gave me some time to think about various methods of approach. With that time in hand I came up with a method. Not saying it's the only one or the best one, but I believe it will give you what you are looking for.

Project toolpath.

Take a look at this screencast and see if it gives you what you are looking for. I chose to dump one toolpath into a Pattern (Rotation), rather than sketching and selecting each scallop line. You can certainly do that, the choice is yours, and it should certainly work. Just note; where I select "Touch Face" and select the one scallop, you would need to select all 5 (should you choose NOT to go the Pattern/Rotation method)

I can get pretty close with Pencil but it doesn't quite hit the top:

I also did a pattern of course:

Yes that's why I said it didn't quite hit the top

Project was my initial thought when I posted this morning but I was hoping for a non-sketch-based solution in Pencil. Oh well.
