Is there a way to tell the cutter comp to use the center of the tool in a 2D contour? I drew a line that i want the center of the tool to follow in a slot but only options i see are left or right (conventional and climb) i just want to use the center of the tool. in explanation to what i am doing is i am roughing a slot out for a .250 ball nose to follow, no problem there then i want to send the .250 ball nose in to put a radius at the bottom of the slot.

If you've already got a line, try Trace under the 2D toolpaths (don't forget a pass extension on the Passes tab). Otherwise Left and Right are ignored if you use the pulldown and set Compensation to Off.

Trace:

2D Contour with Compensation to Off:

No problem! You can also avoid sketching your toolpath by using one of the sidewalls (this is very simple IF your slot is as wide as your cutter, but can be irritating if you have to do math due to the slot being less than a full radius) and setting the Bottom height from the edge as well. This can be very useful if you're anything like me and detest sketching toolpaths
