Wow! that is so great! Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I find all of my jobs are different and more challenging than the examples, often shown in the Fusion tutorials. So I have trouble coming up with the best solutions or selection of strategy for doing the job. I did not know you could have multiple strategies on your set up to see which one works the best? I guess I thought it would confuse the tool path calculator?

Thanks again!

Hello Forum,

I am trying to modify a set of dial calipers. When I generate a tool path some of the tool path is red which I understand to be a climbing cut? The tool path color changed when I tried changing the mill I selected. Can anyone make any suggestions? For some reason I cannot save it for export because I have some reference part (my caliper stock)? Says something about using A360?

Thank you.

Red are normally ramping toolpaths. One thing you can do is break all the links to the external parts and export then close the design without saving to the cloud so you don't loss the references in your design.

Red is a <STRIKE>plunge</STRIKE> ramping move so this is pretty weird IMO. I can PM you my email address to be invited to the project if that's acceptable.

Thanks for the quick replies. I do not know how to unlink the 2 "parts"? Did try but does not seem to work. Here's a picture of my projects tree of bodies, etc.

Great, Awesome. I did not know about switching back to the Model mode to break the link. This is the first project where I have created my own "stock" from which to mill from.

Here's the "Export" file, attached.

I sure would like to be able to simplify the operation. I did a test run with the larger 11/32" Carbide end mill. But my goal is to use a 1/8" end mill so I can get a tighter radius in the upper corner of the cut out.

The reason for the red ramping and the green linking toolpaths is you have the maximum staydown set to 3in, turning staydown off almost halves the cut time. The screencast below shows a few options, I've included the file as well. The adaptive cut will need a finishing pass because the minimum cutting radius will leave more material in the internal corner. I'll leave it to you to set your stepover and depth of cut.
