topic Seeking Adaptive Island Issue Advice in Fusion Manufacture Forum

I'm using adaptive clearing to remove a lot of hastelloy from this slug shown below. I'm using a 3/4" carbide end mill, 6 flute, with a WOC at .075 and a DOC at .625... RPM 509 @ 12.8in/min

Okay, with that all said, adaptive is working from out to in, and when it gets close to the center, the islands left behind are causing me issues, chipping out the mill. I'm wondering if anyone has some advice on how to avoid this from happening. Is there any tweaks to adaptive you'd recommend?

I have struggled with this myself. The best solution (though far from ideal) I could come up with is actually modeling a post in the middle and creating my adaptive to that point. After that, I can use a single pass facing operation and bring the material down in depths of cut

Bummer, that was my first thought as well. Was hoping to avoid doing something along those lines. The program is already 13+ hours so I'm trying to avoid adding time.

I was going to suggest the same thing. We have talked about automating this, however, it is easier said that done to automate in a consistent way.

In the meantime, @LibertyMachine has the correct advice.

You may both consider adding an "Idea" for this in the Ideastation to help gauge how users would rate this as a priority.
