Hi,

I'm trying to engrave a logo using an "Engrave" operation.

The generated tool path completely ignores one of the selected contour lines (for the letter F). All other contour lines are used correctly.

In the attachment you can see the selected contour lines and the simulated result.

What could be the reason for the line being ignored?

Thanks!

It is not generating any paths for areas that are wider than the tool. It would be nice if the engrave feature would make flat areas with a specified overlap but I have not figured out how to do that yet either.

That F was being buggy for me too. I ended up with three operations. I had to use a tool from my library to make the pocket work.

The problem is the F is to close to the G the 3 spots circled are where the toolpath for the F will cut into the G, It's chucking the correct error out just not saying what the problem is.

If you select the inside profile for the F it works as it should.

And use a chamfer mills as the base for a engrave cutter or Vcarve Bit not spot drill, spot drill should fail the toolpath.

You can change the depth of cut to -.5 mm below the top surfaces before it loses the V carve cut and turns into a traces.

@Matthew-R Is there any chances, that a errour can be chucked out with a note saying the tool will cut into the object beside what's getting cut or something like that.

Sorry for the late answer: I had to go away for the whole week and had no access to fusion.

@Anonymous: thank you for your solution!

@daniel_lyall: than you for you suggestions. I still don't really understand what is wrong with the F. If the problem is that the two letters are too close to each other I would have expected a toolpath that engraves around the two letters without separating them. Instead fusion completely ignores the F and cuts strait trough it. The generation of the toolpath fails even if I only choose the outline of the F.

you have to do the inside contour it's the tool size what's doing it and it's doing a Vcarve cut not an engraved, if you lift the bottom height up it fixes it as well.
