The amount of cores Adaptive can utilize depends on the geometry, so it's not certain that the extra cores in the 8700k will help much in this example, although it should in many other examples.

What you will get, though, is an approx 30% performance increase in single threaded workloads (according to cpubenchmark.net) which should help in a lot of workflows.

Fusion 360 has been calculating a 3D adaptive path for the better part of 10 minutes now.

I'm running a 3770k @4.5GHz and a GTX 1080.

All cores and threads (8) are running at about 50%.

Is there a reason that it won't use 100% of available CPU power?

Would upgrading to an 8700k @ 4.8GHz be worth it?

Any advice or opinions would be great.

Thanks!
