topic Tool Post for TinyG Laser in Fusion Manufacture Forum

I have added a small laser (8 watts) to my CNC setup. I am running a TinyG controller. My laser is hooked up to the speed control so that M3 commands set the laser power. M3 0 or M5 shuts off the laser. Right now I am using M3 255 as max power but I can make it M3 20000 or what ever. I would like to us the trace command to etch lines and cut small parts. I have had good results with dither programs to output photographs but I need to be able to do vector work. Right now if I try to output from my post processor it tells me that lasers are not supported. It does not seem to hard to make this work since I can already move the laser in the right paths I simply need to turn the laser on and off. Any guidance wold be appreciated.

I found this thread:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-computer-aided/fusion-360-output-to-laser-cutters/m-p/6264041#M10542

Hey,

Did you update the tinyg.cps file to include "CAPABILITY_JET"?

capabilities = CAPABILITY_MILLING | CAPABILITY_JET;

I think I have the same setup but I'm getting an error when generating the code. I think I'm almost there...

Eric
