I made an over sight in my testing before I posted.

For my own learning. This assume the post processor has not been edited to do something special with the Bore Milling canned cycle and is simply using expandCyclePoint. Is this correct?

Trying to find a way to efficiently circle interpolate thousands of blind holes into a sheet of aluminum. NC Pattern crashed my CNC. Seems like I only have a limited drill operation within Fusion360 to get the job done.

I get two different types of screen images/tool paths when I use the: 1) drilling operation w/ helical bore, and 2) regular helical bore. These holes shown in the screen shots are basic blind holes, .25" OD X .150". How will these two paths differ on my machine? Are they essentially the same??

Really wish "same size holes" feature would get implemented in 2D paths!

Thanks for the support.

I hope i have the right end of the stick here so other can feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

The Helical Boring option (2D => Bore) should output a helical interpolated bore. A series XY plan arcs with Z plunge to create a ramped arc.

For the drilling operation its not quite clear which boring mode you have selected looks like you have used a bore milling cycle for a "custom cycle for helical bore milling".

The result of this will depend a on your post processor. Typically this will use an expanded cycle to give a very similar if not exactly the same to the helical bore tool path

@djowen40 hmm, it's been my experience that the Bore Milling cycle from the Drilling menu will give you code similar to the Bore cycle in the 2D menu. (At least with the Fanuc post). You don't see the cycle until you go to Simulation.

Of course, with the amount of holes the OP is talking about, that's going to be some significant code size...
