Hi Seth,

You have given an excellent solution in the form of :- right angle head: https://eltool.com/

But that right angle head is powered by high pressure coolant supply , which my HMC does not have.

So please think of an alternative.

I don't have to think of anything, the job isn't in my shop 😄

Rotary Broaching, or good 'ol arbor press and keyway broaching

I have had good luck with cncbroachtools.com. We use their tools for 3/16 and 1/4 through keyways in 316 s/s impeller hubs.

You can also do blind broaching provided you relieve the cut.

If this is one off job you could simply use HSS in a boring bar. Just like you'd broach on the lathe. 😉

If you have a lot of these, look into a Keyseat miller.
