"In Control" will generate the tools control point (the toolpath lines) on the contours you are driving. Where as the offset for the tooling you are going to use is a value input as the radius of your cutter in the tool data (offset Table) on your CNC machines controller. Thus the meaning "In Control". Simulating this toolpath will always over cut your part by the radius of the tool you are using.

"In Computer" References that the CAD/CAM software applies the radial offset while computing the toolpath, but does not offer the code (G41, G42) for cutter wear compensation out of the post processor.

"Wear" is what you are probably looking for. The software will generate a toolpath offset by the radius of the cutter and also output the associated nc code (G41 and G42) for radial cutter comp when posted.

Here is a screen shot of the Tool Tip from Fusion:

hello, thank you i'll try

if i right understood you,a simulation of a toolpath with "in control" will always show a tool tracing the toolpath by its centre, not by its radius? is it bug or there is reason why it works that way?

Thanks for sharing your file. I have taken a look at what you have so far . Everything looks to be "In Computer" and "Wear" for cutter compensation in the first machining setup group (4 4), it looks like all of the toolpaths are missing geometry in the second setup group(5) .

It has been my understanding that "In Control" will always put the tool center point on the defined geometry (MasterCAM, SurfCAM, Fusion 360 ETC..) unless you add stock to leave, then the software offsets the toolpath by the amount you define. "In Control" is a fairly "Old School" way of programming. Back in the day when they didn't have powerful computers and software (early stuff like: paper tape punchers , tape readers and manual input) to automatically calculate toolpaths offset by the radius of the cutter. They programmed everything in absolute values and then used the machine controllers to offset the values using tool length and radius offset tables.

The only thing I see that is a little off is if you change the cutter comp back to "In Control" for the contour you shared in the screencast. and try to simulate it. The strange part is that when you generate the toolpath and look at it everything looks fine. But once you simulate it and show the toolpath with the simulate settings the generated toolpath seems to move to the outside of the part rather than where the defined geometry is. This is something i would ask the Autodesk Team about to clarify if it is operating correctly or if it is really a bug.

Simulation of op 2D Contour2(14) indeed looks strange when using "In Control" compensation settings. I logged ticket CAM-11224 to investigate this behavior. I will keep you posted about my findings.

thank you for your attention

no, in control is very useful when you need to catch 0,02 mm allowances, you mill your slot, then check it with micrometre, adjust tool offset and start new machining programm, you don't need go to pc and recalculate your toolpath
