SYNTEC 6MB controller .cps file help !

Hello autodesk community,

This is actually my first post here.

My name is raed bulbul and I am a fresh graduate mechanical engineer from jordan.

the company I work with have recently purchased a 4-axis milling machine which has a Syntec 6MB controller, it actually works pretty well, but the problem is we can't find a software to get the 4th axis running, so, I suggested using autodesk fusion360.

Now that fusion 360 doesn't have a post processor for this controller, I searched the internet and found somewhere a .txt file for another software which seems to be a post processing file, if someone could help me convert this into a .cps file which we can use on autodsk fusion360, this wouldn't only help me, but would help many people as well as enriching the fusion360's library of post processors.

Unfortunately, post processors between software packages are not compatible with each other. What we would need is a PROVEN program that has been run on your machine, or at the very least, a programming manual that shows what the machine is looking for

Good morning!

You mentioned that this is a 4 axis milling machine. Do you have a program that also shows that functionality? Your attached program only has one tool running and it's a 3-axis program.

From what you attached so far, it's looking like a quick couple edits to a Fanuc post and you should be good to go. Of course, if the 4th axis is quite different, we are going to run into some issues.

More info is needed 🙂

yes it is a 4-axis machine, the software they use in the company doesn't support the 4-th axis that is the reason i suggested fusion360, because i have used this software before and i know how easy and efficient.

however, the 4th axis is the A axis which can rotate 90 degrees both sides ( rotating around the y-axis), also what rotates is the spindle not the table.

I hope I have given enough information, and looking forward to give a try.

if you can do these edits I will really appreciate that.

No, I have not been able to get to this.

The 4th axis you speak of is quite different than I expected it to be. I'd strongly suggest forming a relationship with a Reseller who will be able to assist you better. A list is available HERE

Did you ever get the 4th axis to work under fusion.

I also have a syntec controller and a 4th axis and can't figure out yet how to get the axis to work. It seems it keeps translating the rotary axis to X,Y or Z

Curious if you solved it

I have the same controller as you, a Syntec 6MB with 4 axis ( the 4th one is acualy a lathe, and i am not using it for the moment). The CNC machine came with ARTCAM and a post procesor for ARTCAM. But i use fusion 360 for some time now and i am used to it.

Is it possible to get an post porcesor for fusion 360 ? I've uploaded the post procesor that came with my CNC that is install in ARTCAM. (the file has .con extension but i've change it to txt)

It will be a huge help for me to have it, and for the moment i need it to work just for 3 axes.

If i can send you any other information to help transform this to a .cps please let me know.

Try the one I made for fusion. I a still tweaking it regularly, but for the most part its working, also for the rotary (my axis is C)

well, i got working by exporting a 4-axis g-code program and then manually edit it.

I have no idea about how to write a .cps post processor for fusion360 but i really in need for it.

Hello Raed,

Which Fusion post processor did you use to generate your G-code? I checked with Syntec America and they told me: "Syntec uses RS274D standards, and the only differences with FANUC 0M are G70, G71 respective to G20, G21 to switch between inch/mm, so we usually recommend to use a Fanuc post"

I dont have the machine (yet) so I can't really test it but try the preinstalled Fanuc posts or the Fanuc posts from Autodesk HSM library. The G20 (inches) or G21 (mm) is I think only once in the entire program (on the programm beginning) and you would need to change it to G70 (inches) or G71 (mm) to make it work on Syntec. Once you find the one post which works for you and only need to change the G70/G71, post the post here and I'm fairly sure someone will be able to modify it that it generates these unit settings properly.

What is the brand of your machine if I may ask?

Hello.
I started using 4 axis china milling machine with stand SYNTEC 6MB.

I could make the necessary details with the help of artcam, but I do all the models in Fusoin and I want to use the 4 axis for undercuts.
What actions do I need to do with the "fanuc" postprocessor, so that I can work in the fusion?

I attach a screenshot with the codes.
The first comes from the artcam - worker, the second from the fusion - not worker.

The Syntec controller accepts the Fanuc postprocessor, the only differences with the FANUC 0M are G70, G71
respective to G20, G21. You would have to check the behavior of certain codes on your syntec controller tho.

If you would like to do rotary milling with Fusion you can program 4 sides. It is like a normal 2D operation but 4 times. Undercuts are possible if you lower the bottom height, under manufacture, to a minus value.

If you would like to do rotary milling 3D Stl files I would recommend using other software for now because Fusion has still limited capabilities doing this. You might want to try deskproto which works fine with Syntec.

I modified a fanuc postprocessor to syntec before to work with the 4-th Axis and fusion. Like I mentioned you would have to check on some values on your syntec controller because companies program them differetly. I added the PP file to this post.

Hi, I read your posting. You mentioned your 4-th axis is actually a lathe. That I think is very interesting. I have an indexer on my Syntec machine which works fine, also under Fusion.

A lathe is actually a great addition. Does the syntec controller also fully control the spindle?

Can you share me some details about your rotary?

bulkosos, apologies for cutting in. But I am having a problem with my Syntec 6TE. it got wet shorted. I have a spare but no software to reload Syntec. That controller is embedded win ce pro and Syntec loaded on a EMMC flash. we network to embedded controller.

Can you point me in the right direction?
