Hello everyone.

After nearly 10 years implementing PTC products in my previous company (migrating certain sites from Autodesk product to PTC), I have now joined (4 weeks ago) a new company for a similar job. However this company has a strong history with Autodesk unlike my previous one. The company has a very fragmented PLM environment, be it processes or systems. One of my key objective is to streamline the PLM chain (processes and systems) to enable a lean landscape to support the company long term objective.

I am considering it as a green implementation and was given authority to challenge everything that has been done until now. In other words, I could replace any existing systems and processes if required.

Nonetheless, while it could first appear, due to my experience with PTC products that the easiest option would be to implement Windchill (and maybe Creo (after 7y of Inventor, they still only have about 15% of their data converted to Inventor....) I believe there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Therefore I want to learn about the existing technology (Vault and Inventor) and since Autodesk, finally, is on the PLM market, see what PLM 360 has on offer.

I do intend to go through a technology evaluation project but if I can find quick argument why I should go straight to the implementation with Autodesk products that would be great (I would also gain experience in different technology which can only be beneficial to my CV 🙂 )

In other words, is there anyone would has already evaluated Windchill or Teamcenter against PLM 360. I understand that a plm selection heavly depends on what the company is trying to achieve but at a high level there are key differences

eg

PLM 360 only available on the cloud (you take it or leave it)

PLM 360 does not currently include PDM (Vault), therefore an integration must be created unlike Windchill for instance. (I believe Autodesk has planned to move Vault into the could and be an integral part of PLM 360)

Vault does not include items configuration

Integration between external (cloud) and internal systems can be challenging

etc...

As said, due to my past experience, I already know that PTC product would perfectly fulfil my company current and future needs. However, due to history, I want to give Autodesk and chance and I am currently collecting information before starting long discussion directly with Autodesk Consultant.

Thanks in advance for any information you could provide.

Best regards
