topic How do I show and hide sections on a WS depending on the selection of a picklist in Fusion Manage Forum

Hello,

I have Workspace that is basically identical to another workspace (basically an 8D vs a 4D), it is just that depending on what you are creating, an 8D or 4D you only have to fill out certain sections of the form.

Is there a way to show and hide sections based on a dropdown? This way we can have only 1 WS and this makes reporting far easier.

Thanks!

Wendy SV

There is a way to do it, but not by controlling which section will be showing. The way to do it is by using the Classification Manager. Simply create a root class and then add two classes below it - 4D and 8D. Put any common properties in the root class and any unique properties in the 4D or 8D classes as appropriate. Then add a classification to your workspace and choose the root class. Depending on whether the user chooses to classify an item as 4D or 8D, the respective properties will show up in the classification section.

Note that there are some limitations to this approach:

You cannot have fields with picklists that use another WS as source data in that section

You cannot programatically write to the classification section using scripts

You can read more about the classification functionality of FLC in the help guide
