The hyperlink directs me to the pdf I have stored in the attachments tab of my item. I haven't tried it with the modern UI since all my users don't have access to switch over to it. All my development has been implemented in classic which posed many issues when I converted my profile to the modern UI.

>From my preview tenant which has cloud pdm, it looks like the address format is like this: http://a360.co/2hXiDFb
If you have access to the last part of the address, I'm sure you can embed the link to an email where users have access.

[http://www.nucap.com/images/image001.jpg] Jason Leung - Design Engineer
NUCAP Industries Inc.
3370 Pharmacy Avenue, Toronto ON
Ph.416 494 1444 FAX.416 494 2505
Jason.Leung@nucap.com

Please visit us at www.nucap.com www.gripmetal.com

Hello,

With Cloud PDM being linked to FLC, I would like to use the Share functionality for the following scenario:

1) A document Item is Released

2) The document item has a list of Users or Emails that should be notified on Release

3) An email is sent to this User/Email (s) that contains the 'Shared' link from Cloud PDM

Note: since an attachment cannot be added as an Attachment on an email, I would like suggestions on how to generate this link off of the documents that are released.

Also, please clarify if this means they would need to have access to the exact folder where this document is housed.

Thanks,

Wendy SV

Wendy, the share is really a public link that anyone with internet access can reach it. Are you certain you wish to use this for your released document IP?

Yes, I have that concern, but since Attachments cannot be appended to an email, we are looking for a workaround.

Would the Password Protected document work? Would this be respected? (from my test it seems like it does, but need to confirm).

Thanks!

I think if the file is PWD protected, we don't ignore it. In fact, you bring a good point if our backoffice services would collide with pwd protected or encrypted file; Not sure I have answer on that other than we will respect the file's integrity.

I guess that the core question is, from FLC is there a way to have a script run, when a document item changes status to extract the link from the related file's PDM location?

If this is not possible, then I want to avoid going down this path.

Thanks!

I use hyperlinks in our emails all the time which direct the recipients directly to our encrypted pdfs which are stored in our attachments tab.

I have a library script:

Input: item attachment array, dmsID
Method: creates hyperlink format for pdfs
Output: hyperlink address

hyperlink format looks like: https://nucap.autodeskplm360.net/servlets/DownloadFile/SM11653.pdf?fileID=63862&dmsID=289651&workspaceID=94

This works in the "classic" PLM. I'm not sure in FLC if it's able to access the cloud PDM the same way. I previously created an ideastation for PDM access via scripting.

Hope this helps

Hi! Thanks for your input!

Have you tried this with the Modern UI? I am curious if the functionality would carry forward.

Thanks!
