Problem: possibility to have an item in 2 CM

Hello,

You know, when you want to add the same item in two different Change Order (Revisioning Workspace), the system blocks you (see attachment “ItemAlreadyInCM.png”). This is normal and I’m very happy of this feature. But. are you aware that you can put more than once the same item in different Change Order (Revisioning Workspace) if you use a script?

For example:

I create a Change Request (Basic Workspace with workflow) which contains the item “130-00001”. Once the Change Request is approved, I have a script which creates automatically a Change Order and copies the affected items of the CR in the CO. Now if I create another CR with the same item, when the CO will be created, the item “130-00001” will be in TWO Change Order. There is no verification. Is it possible to do the check before creating the Change Order?

When creating an item via scripting you can essentially create duplicate records even though you may have the record name field to verify as "unique". Manually adding will block you but scripting bypasses the check from my experience.

Is it not possible to add something in the script which checks if the items are not in another CM?

That's where I probably don't have the skill for it because you would need to check against all the records in a workspace and see if there's a duplicate.

I don't believe, from the scripting engine provided, it can be possible to look at all existing records.
