Select group in 2DPCB same as in schematics

When creating a group in a schematic, a dashed rectangle is shown around it, and I can select the rectangle and move it to move all components together.

I've created a group in 2DPCB and I've made it selectable (check box is checked), but nothing new (ex: dashed rectangle) is shown around it, and I can't move them all together at the same time.
Am I missing something, or it's not available yet in 2DPCB?

I hope you are doing well!

For the group in 2d PCB, we don't show the dash rectangle. But you can move the group by type 'Move group_name' in the command line. Please have a try to see if it can solve your problem.

When I create a group in the schematic, I would like to have the same group created in the PCB. Is there such a feature?

Hello @Fabien_matte,

I hope you're doing well. If you want to copy a selection from schematic to board then you can achieve that by running the select-sch-group-to-brd-group.ulp .

If you are trying to copy persistent groups between schematic and board there is currently no feature for that.

Many thanks for this response.

When I run the script, I get the error "unexpected parameter: select-sch-group-to-brd-group.ulp". I have tested by selecting:

a permanent group in the schematic,
a group of components I have selected manually in the schematic,
a group of components I have selected manually in the PCB.

I also tried by writing the script full name in the command line, and adding one group name as parameter, but without success.

Do I have to do it another way?

Would the PCB - Schematic link will be added in a next SW release?

Hi Fabien,

I hope you're doing well. I didn't explain how to run the ULP, I assumed you knew and that's my fault.

Here's the process, make the selection. Then go to the AUTOMATE menu and click on the RUN ULP icon. In the list of scripts that pops up search for select_sch_group_to_brd_group.ulp. Double-click to run it.

We are working on a better way to do this which, honestly, can't come soon enough. For now it's the ULP

It works this way. Indeed, it would be easier if we could choose to match the groups in the schematic and the PCB but it does the job.

Hi everybody!

I tried this out as well, but I have to say it is pretty cumbersome to create every group manually in the PCB editor. The selection with the ULP does not help much, because i cannot convert the selection in a PCB group. I also have to type the name for every group and have to take care to spell it right, a lot of boring work.
Do I overlook something?

Hi @albrecht339,

I hope you're doing well. So now Fusion has cross selection enabled so the ULP is no longer necessary. If you form a selection in the schematic and then jump to the 2D PCB you'll see that the selection is already there. At this point you can turn it into a persistent group if you wish.

I have fresh new install/license of Fusion. When I "run ulp", there is 0 entries in the directory. How can I get access to these?

Hello @sewercamerasolutions ,

I hope you're doing well. I'm going to assume that you don't have any custom ULPs. If you go to the top of the dialog click on the arrow and change the location to be Fusion public cloud. Do you see ULPs now?

It must have changed directory on it's on? I had restarted fusion and now everything is there.
