Hi @radikn,

I hope you're doing well. Thank you for taking the time to come to the forums. The Change issue you reported is legitimate and our developers are working to remedy it as soon as possible.

Now the graphics issues you are reporting are very uncommon. From what we have seen it's not a matter of hardware horsepower, it's been something with some modern graphics drivers. The next release of Fusion has major improvements in how the graphics are handled. You can try it in the Fusion insider version. If you are interested in trying out the Fusion Insider version you can sign up for it here:

Hi users,

after some time of programming I'm returning to schematics and PCB design. Although I still have a lot of projects in EAGLE, I understand that EAGLE is gone and I need to focus on Fusion 360 Electronics.

But ...

I drew something and although there are many good things, there are some small things that I think I'm doing something wrong.

I don't want to be an idiot, so I went through the discussion and I see that many of you are actively using Fusion 360. That's why I want to ask you for a consultation. I have a laptop with i7-10510U, 32GB RAM, SSD, AMD Radeon RX 640, 28" monitor with 3480 x 2160 resolution. Simply put, the UI response is ... disastrous.

I made a short video. I have opened a library, I click on the PCB and the screen flashes between the library and the PCB for 5 seconds.

https://www.elabrno.cz/storage/f360.mov

The response is also slow, for example, when changing the size of the panels. How does Fusion behave for you? Is my hardware insufficient? Because in Eagle it is absolutely fine.

Maybe another thing: In the Modify group there is a Change button. When I click on it, a menu appears. I select a property and change it. But if I want to change some next property and click the Change button again, the menu no longer appears. I have to click on another command and then the Change button again.

Fusion 360 Electronics has been with us for ... how many ... three years? I can't imagine there would be such a bugs. Now you understand that I am convinced that I am doing something wrong.

I have the latest graphics card drivers :-).

Please share your experiences with me.

Radek

Hi Jorge,

Thanks for your reply. I signed up for the Insider program and installed the latest pre-release version. It looks different. I'll write more about the speed.

I was surprised by the Design Rules dialog. It has two panels: General Rules and Custom Rules. But each is handled differently. While I can select items in General rules with the keyboard

on Custom Rules I have to click with the mouse

Why?

I found it by searching for Annual Ring (diameter of ring around plated hole). I didn't find. Where did it go?

Radek

Hello @radikn ,

I hope you're doing well. So the annular ring settings are inside design preferences, you'll find them there. The difference in behavior between general and custom rules occurs because by default you don't have custom rules. You have to create them for your application, the general rules are always there but if your design is simple you will have few if any custom rules.

Just FYI, Netclass rules are now implemented using Custom Rules. That's where you will set them up.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi Jorge,

I was going to get back to describing the UI performance issue.

Thanks for the advice about the Insider Program. That helped a lot. But...

When I start Fusion 360 Electronics, everything is OK. That's in video 1. Then something happens that makes the UI worse. The responsiveness is much worse. I don't know exactly what causes it. I've been trying to figure it out. I started by restarting my PC, then I started Fusion 360 and recorded video 1. It is OK. I was playing StarCraft II. I wanted to do something related to the graphics card. After finishing the game, I wanted to go back to Fusion 360 Electronics, but unfortunately, there was no way to switch to the application. Not with the mouse, not with ALT+TAB. That's in video 2. I had to use CTRL+ALT+DEL, open the task manager, find Fusion 360 and end the task.

I'll continue. I'll find out what's causing the UI slowdown.

Best Regards, Radek

Hi Jorge,

I would like to add another observation. After a few hours of work, the UI response is very slow. The video shows how the part moves around the PCB. The part follows the mouse cursor with a delay. The GPU utilization is visible on the left side of the screen.

Thank you for your help.

Best Regards, Radek

I hope you're doing well. That performance is definitely not normal, let me ask you, are you running multiple monitors? Do you often switch between applications? Do you notice these slowdowns when you come back from some other applications?

Just trying to see if we can find a pattern for when the poor performance is experienced.
