My usual work flow when I start with a project is to add a few components on a schematic and than fine tune the idea.
For almost all decisions you need to take into account the values from the according data sheets.
I would love to have the data sheet available on a mouse click.
As an example for a comprehensive library the Würth library can be taken. All the components have an attribute 'Data sheet URL'. The only thing is that you can't really do something with this information.

It would be great to be able to open the data sheet either on a fusion internal pdf viewer or that the pdf is passed forward to the system's pdf tool of choise.
Of course this would only be possible if the part has an attribute who's value is ending with an .pdf or something linke that.
This way you could attach what ever document to a part that is useful to have access to.

Hi Melisa.

Do you have any progress on executable links - especially in component attributes for accessing external datasheets?

greetings Andreas

Hi @a_bernhard4SNP3 ,

I hope you're doing well. Melisa will confirm, but there isn't any news on this front that I'm aware of. I believe there is a ULP that can call external datasheets. I'll see if I can find it.

Hi Andreas,

there is one way to do it, although this isn't quite what you'd expect from this function.
If you add an url in the description in a html syntax it will end up being a clickable link.

<LI-CODE lang="markup">

 online datasheet

</LI-CODE>

This will help you find the right component initially but unfortunately this is not possible with components in an existing design, since the description is unclickable when you right-click a component to get the datasheet to recall some properties of it.

Best regards
