topic Can I Insert an Electronic Design into a another design and keep a link to the original inserted design, as if it was a library item? in Fusion Electronics Forum

I was pretty sure there was a way to not only Insert an Electronic Design into another Electronic Design, where both the schematic AND the PCB layout would get inserted, but ALSO that the new design kept a link to the Original Inserted design so that updates in that original inserted design file would propagate into the inserted copy.

This is like making the inserted design a library item. If 50 copies are inserted, then you want to make a change to all 50, you just go into the original and make the change once. Then that change propagates to all 50 inserted copies. Is this possible?

The linking seems to happen if I make a copy of a design in the Data Panel, so the concept is there somewhat, right?

Hi @chris_cummingsDT ,

Currently in Fusion, we don't have the capability to persistently link 2 electronics designs. However, the value for this is clear and I'd love to jump on a call / hear more about your thoughts & use cases for this. I'll send you a quick DM, hopefully we can jump on a quick call.

Best regards,
