Hi @timonsku,

I hope you're doing well. I'll put in your request, I hope SamacSys would be interested in developing the plugin. We gave SnapEDA and Ultralibrarian a framework and they developed the plug-ins. So SamacSys would have to be open to developing it.

Thanks as always for your suggestions.

I'm using the SamacSys Library Loader to use their parts which maintains an Eagle .lbr automatically.

This workflow is somewhat broken with Fusion Electronics but even worse is that it seems I can not ingest any changes to a local library unless I restart Fusion.
Right now the change seems to be seen by Fusion after waiting about a minute. The part will then suddenly pop up in the component search but when I try to add it to the design I get an error like this:
"Cannot find device E:/libraries/SamacSys_Parts.lbr 218989-0210"

The preview for the part is also empty. If I then close and start Fusion again the component works fine.
Ideally the local change would be seen by Fusion pretty much instantly and not have this bug of needing to fully restart the tool before the change become actually usable.
I'm glad we can now at least ingest local libraries but this make the feature kind of pointless unfortunately as this is one of the remaining things that make me need to have local libraries.

The SamacSys catalog is integral to my workflow. I keep on trying Fusion Electronics but these issues with parts management are still a big blocker for making the switch. I hope to see more development and bug fixes in this area.
Maybe actively engaging with SamacSys and other vendors like SnapEDA would also be helpful that they make native plug-ins that work with libraries.io or make their catalogues available through libraries.io through a server side cooperation.

Hi @timonsku,

It's nice to hear from you, it's been a while. So even though we don't have native plugins for samacsys, at this point we do have plugins for both SnapEDA and Ultralibrarian which should cover you needs nicely. You can download them from here:
https://apps.autodesk.com/FUSION/en/Home/Index

I would encourage you to consider using these instead of the Samacsys loader which is currently not supported in Fusion 360. As you've already noticed using local libs in Fusion is not ideal.

Let me know if you run into problems.

Best Regards,

Thanks @jorge_garcia that does make things easier for the interim but SamacSys has by far been the most reliable vendor of parts in terms of correctness. It would be great if Autodesk could approach them on that topic that they make a similar plugin as SnapEDA and UltraLibrarian.

SamacSys right now is forced to do so, you can still make a work-around. because not supporting SamacSys is pure choice of Fusion360 Dev team ( in my opinion) @timonsku, you can still upload you local SamacSys Copy to library IO and than use it as a shared library. If you are a Python magician you can just parse and your local copy, removing as i suspect SamacSys tags from it or re parse it to some new version maybe 9+. This will work
