It would be really nice to able to use my 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse in the schematic, PCB and footprints editors, to able to move really fast across the board. It is already possible in both Altium and KiCAD 7. Not high priority, just a small quality of life improvement.

Any update on this?

I realize that there are bigger fish to fry, but it is super frustrating not being able to use the same device for view manipulation across all of the various platform tools, especially as KiCAD supports it everywhere. This isn't really helpful when I'm trying to convince people to start looking at F360 Electronics as our default ECAD/MCAD design tool.

Hi @jay_tedeschi ,

Have you tried it recently? As far as I know Fusion does support that mouse, so maybe we have inherited that support. I don't have one so I wouldn't be able to comment on how it's support has been developed.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by view manipulation? Do you just want to switch editors?

Thanks for the response... it is much appreciated. The Spacemouse works perfectly in every Fusion Workspace (e.g. Design, Simulation, Manufacturing, etc.) however, in the Electronics "Workspace", while the button menus do work, view manipulation (e.g., zoom & pan) while editing a schematic or board layout do not.

Any movement of late on this? As I previously mentioned, I understand that there are more likely than not larger issues to tackle, but this feels like low hanging fruit with regards to "quality of life" improvements in Fusion 360. To say that going from 3D board assy, where Space Mouse navigation is supported, to PCB Layout, where it is not, is frustrating would be a pretty sizeable understatement.

Hi @jay_tedeschi / Jay, thanks so much for posting on the forum & sending us a nudge. I know we spoke about this a few months back and really appreciate your feedback. I'm unfortunately not able to divulge roadmap specifics, but we are actively investigating this topic and recognise it's importance. It is definitely jarring not being able to continue Space Mouse navigation between environments, totally agree there. Rest assured I will come back to this thread when we have an update on this.

From the perspective of a person who teaches PCB design to students at a university, it is quite regrettable when the students realize that the workflow is better supported in other programs than in Fusion. Refer to: "in the Electronics "Workspace", while the button menus do work, view manipulation (e.g., zoom & pan) while editing a schematic or board layout do not." Please fix this problem.

Regarding @jorge_garcia 's question, "Could you provide a little more info about how you would expect zoom and pan to work?"
I suggest making it the same as the 2D sketch in the design workspace.
Panning the 3D mouse left and right moves the schematics/2DPCB left and right, panning the 3D mouse upwards and downwards moves the schematics upwards and downwards, and panning the 3D mouse forward and backward zooms in and out the schematics/2DPCB.
Exactly the same as the 2D sketch in the design workspace.

Hello my friend, thank you for your post.

In our version Fusion 2604.1.48, it has not been possible for us on any workstation to use the Space Navigator 3D mouse in the 2D view when we want to zoom or scroll in a schematic or PCB layout.

If it works for you, what settings have you made?

The 3D mouse only works in the 3D view of the PCB in Fusion for us.

The 3D mouse is not working with me in the schematics and the 2DPCB. It's working in the 3D view and the 2D sketch in the design workspace, and also the 3DPCB in the Electronics workspace. I'm suggesting for Fusion team to implement it in the schematics and the 2DPCB to be the same as the 2D sketch in the design workspace. I wrote it as a suggestion.
