from what i can tell "place component" button simply brings the "Place components" tab to the front, if it is not already. "Add" on the cli brings up a more legacy looking/eagle dialog. I assume its intentional that they dont do the same thing but ya, it seems "place component" is probably not meant to be exactly the same as the "add" command and that "add" is not even on the menu (but the shortcut for place component is "A", sort of confusing). bleh. haha.

Actually, if you drop down the “place” menu you see a short cut “A”, which puts “Add” in the command line bar. That will bring up the library component chooser. Exactly as the icon with the overlapping boxes with a + used to do until about a week ago. Something is definitely broken now. An icon that doesn’t do anything when clicked on indicates a problem to me.

Interesting. I'm not that familiar with fusion or how it was a few weeks ago so i can't comment on that. When i hit shortcut 'a' though, nothing is put in the cl. Just the 'boxes with +' icon flashes and the place components tab is brought to front, cursor moves to 'filter' field of said tab.

To get add to execute on a key binding it seems I have to add an 'add' shortcut myself.

I am on the same version of fusion but windows 10. not sure it makes a difference or not

Hello everyone,

I hope you're doing well. The Place parts panel is meant to fully replace the ADD command, however it currently can't search based on attributes which is why the ADD command is still available. For 90% of use cases the Place parts panel should be preferred, it has a more flexible search mechanism and is often faster.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hi Jorge,

Hope you are doing well also. Yes, I agree, the place parts was my preferred method until it stopped working about a week or so ago. I just updated to the latest version of Fusion and it is still not working, requiring me to use the Add in the command line.

Hmmm... That's strange. Try this, go File > View > Reset Layout.

Another thing that we have been checking is the GPU rendering, I don't think that is at play here but just in case. Go to Preferences > Electronics > Misc > GPU rendering.
