WORKAROUNDS: How to get rid of "No Vector Found" in DRC Errors dialog if don't want to check font？

Dear all,

In the latest Fusion Production build 2.0.16265, we received 2 reports about how to get rid of "No Vector Found" in DRC Errors dialog if don't want to check font.

Please kindly check below workarounds, thank you.

1. Open DRC dialog

2. Switch to Misc Tab

3. Uncheck "Check font" checkbox

4. Click Check button

Then you will not see the No Vector Found in DRC error now.

Yes, but it is a good idea to use only vector fonts.

If not, the pcb manufacturer will have problems...

Not checking for problems is not the solution...

Hi @volpe ,

It's always a pleasure to hear from you. That was true until relatively recently. The CAM processor has been updated to be able to export any truetype font and not just vector based fonts. As long as the strokes are thick enough the CAM processor can handle them.

Regardless of the fact that the CAM processor has been revised, it can still cause problems. If you send your BRD file to the PCB manufacturer, they export the production data themselves and not necessarily with the CAM processor from EAGLE or Fusion 360.
This also explains why polygons can look different in EAGLE/Fusion 360 than on the board. Here other algorithms are used for the calculation. If you want to avoid this, you really have to send Gerber Files to the PCB manufacturer.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

We'd suggest you use choose those True Text Font for your text, you could select Custom font and then pick any font family supported in your machine which listed in the dropdown list. Hope it helps.

And in today's Fusion latest release version 2.0.16486, please kindly be noticed that we have removed the No Vector Found checking.

In circuit board production, it is usually the case that Gerber data is exported with the CAM processor. The Gerber format is vector-based and therefore you need the font as a vector font.

Not sure whether you noticed we supported to export the ODB++ files in CAM Processor?

You could export the ODB++ files to Manufacture, which supports Ture Type Font text. Hope it helps.

Hello to @volpe and the all posters in this thread,

Fusion 360 now supports all type of fonts and the CAM Processor can handle them. So a system true type font will look exactly the same on the PCB as it is shown in the PCB editor. This is what my colleague @jorge_garcia pointed out before.

The "No vector font" warning comes from about 25 years ago when we decided to support more than one font (the original vector font 😁 ). It's a long standing rule and we always pointed this out in customer trainings. But now this issue is no longer an issue.

I'd support to no longer check for vector font because now all of the fonts are supported.

I tried it on my computer and the Gerber viewer shows the true type fonts.

Verified in cuprum on a Mac

I have tried Fusion 360 with texts:
Whenever I insert a text on the circuit board, no matter what layer or what font (e.g. custom, Arial), the font is inserted as "vector".

As written, I tested it with different fonts and uploaded the board on a website of a pcb manufacturer. Everything seems to work.

I did the following test:

In settings I unchecked "Vector Fonts". Regardless of which font I use for the text that I want to place on the PCB, the font is always placed on the PCB as "Vector". I have always verified this with the "Info-Command".

Hi @volpe,

Go into Preferences > Electronics in Fusion 360. There's a check box that says "Always vector font" if you have it checked then it will always show Vector regardless of what Font you choose.
