Deleting components attached to a net with a polygon causes the same renaming issue.

I've been experiencing an odd bug the last few days. Every so often my polygons are renaming themselves back to default net names (N$1, N$2, etc.). It's not every polygon, and all polygons on the same net get renamed to the same new name.

I haven't been able to discern a specific pattern to trigger this, but most recently the problem occurred after saving my project and then reopening the files later on a different computer. The problem has also occurred with the files open.

For the time-being, renaming the polygons is not an issue, but I'm worried this will happen at an inopportune moment, like when I'm about to generate CAM files, which will then lead to corrupt gerbers.

I'm not sure if the issue is related, but another odd thing I've noticed in the last couple days is that the Polygon tool is not asking me to name the polygon after I draw the edges.

Hi @crefvem

I hope you are doing well!

For the polygon name change issue, we have reported one scenario to the develop team.

It will happen when you change net name in schematic.

But I am not quit sure if it is the same issue as you mentioned.

Would you mind keeping an eye on the polygon name when you change those nets (same signal name as polygon) in schematic before you save and close the Electronics Design? Like do merge nets, rename nets,... in schematic

It will help us to recognize if the issue you meet has the same root cause as we know.

Thanks in advance!

BTW, we don't popup the name dialog because we implement the signal name in the Polygon command dialog. So you can type the signal name in the polygon command dialog firstly then you can draw the polygon again. Please have a try to see if it works well for you.

Regards,

Sorry to bother again.

Would you mind checking if the corresponding net's name in Schematic has also changed to the same value when you meet this issue again?

And would you mind confirming if you do delete polygon supply and merge nets before you meet this issue, thanks!

After some further experimentation, I believe that I'm closer to understanding the "trigger" for the issue; however, I don't feel confident in saying that my explanation below is the only thing that can cause the issue. I'll keep experimenting.

The problem occurs for me when I delete a wire segment in the schematic that causes a new net to be created. For example, if I delete the highlighted wire segment between C7 and C9 in the schematic snippet below, the issue occurs due to the stub that is created attached to C9. It seems to be that the polygons associated with the net are renamed to the new net name for the stub, rather than remaining the same name they were before the nets separated.

However, if I delete a segment that does not cause a new net to be generated (due to no stubs leftover) the issue does not happen. For example, the small wire segment above C9 can be deleted without issue.
