Exclude parts from BOM - deal with module variants

Hello, I am new to Fusion 360.

I would like to remove parts like test points from my BOM. I tried to use variants as I've seen in other posts, however my design is composed of different module sheets.

So I see that I can define an assembly variant for each separated module, but it does not seem to have an impact on the general BOM, and I don't understand how to apply these module variants to main assembly variants.

Hello @llemorvan,

I hope you're doing well. The built in BOM ULP can handle a top level assembly but it won't handle module variants correctly.

For now, the best solution is to export the BOM take it into a spreadsheet editor and then remove whatever rows are not needed.

you cal also use the ULP "bom.ulp" to switch between variants:

And then switch between your variants:

Hint:

You can edit the ULP to your needs, for example ignore testpoints, add MPN, ...

you can edit the original "bom.ulp".

If you want to exclude special parts (testpoints, ..) you can ignore them by editing the file:

schematic (SCH) { SCH.allparts (P) { if (P.device.package) { if ((P.populate) && (!(strsub(P.name, 0, 2) == "TP")) && (!(P.value == "entf."))) { PartName[NumParts] = P.name; PartValue[NumParts] = P.value;

Here all parts that are not populated ("entf.") and all testpoints ("TP") are not collected in the BOM
