Hi @LoreMaiscai,

I hope you're doing well. Gerber Prefix is meant to be a path not really a single letter.

To change the name of the output files you have to go into each individual sub-section under gerber and adjust it there for each individual gerber file.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi everyone,

Since a few days I'm not able to properly change the name of the gerber files generated with Fusion360.

In the Gerber prefix: form, where I used to type the name of the output gerbers, I'm no more able to type more than one letter. When I load the gerber job, the last used name is still there, even if it has more than one letter, but if I want to change it, I can only type one letter.

I've tried to paste there the full name but it does not work, actually it does not change anything at all.

Is this a wanted feature, since this form is just intended as a prefix? And, if so, how may I change the name of the output files?

Thank you.

Lorenzo

Hi @jorge_garcia ,

Thank you for your reply, but it does sound strange to me.

If I want to change the output name of my gerber files, making them all have the same name with different file extensions, I have to copy-paste the same name over and over through all the gerber sub-sections? Sound like a thing that can be automatized, and in fact it was automatic until it was not anymore.

Before encountering this problem I use the "Gerber prefix:" box I've highlighted in the picture I added in the first post to assign a global name for all the gerber files created by the CAM processor. In fact, in each gerber subsection I have this setting in the "Gerber filename:" form which I've highlighted.

By doing so I could write a name in the "Gerber prefix:" box from the first screenshot and everything was working fine.

Right now I am unable to type more than one letter in the prefix box. If I try to type more than one, it simply does not add any typed letter after the first one and ignores any ctrl-v.

The only way to type more than one letter in that box is to load a previous cam file which already has a longer string in the prefix form. In this condition I can add or remove letters in the box, successfully typing longer names, unless I remove letters down to one or none, in that case I can't type more than one again.

The fact is that this is not working as it does before, and in any case it is strange that this box only accepts one letter. You say that gerber prefix is not meant for single letter, and I agree, but Fusion is preventing me to type more than one by ignoring any other input after the first one.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Lorenzo

Hi @LoreMaiscai ,

I hope you're doing well. I can reproduce the issue and have passed it along to our developers for review. There are several special characters you can use to define paths %N is very common and may be the preferred approach instead of changing prefix.

With that said once this is fixed use whatever workflow works best for you. If you hover over the Gerber filename field it will bring up a tooltip showing you the various special name variables that can be used.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
