topic Layer names in Fusion Electronics Forum

Layer names, first question - what does the "m" stand for in, for example, mtNames? I understand what the tNames and bNames mean, but not "m". Second, I want to add signal names to the silkscreen of my board but I want these on a separate layer from tNames and tPlace - can I create my own layer, name it something and use it? Are there any special properties I need to be aware of for pcb house screen print operations embedded in the Names or Place layers?

Thanks!

Hello @dkaman ,

I hope you're doing well. So by default we don't use the mtNames, my guess is that this is maybe coming from a ULP. You can create your own custom layers to write any special information you need. When you go to generate your gerbers you can include those layers in the silkscreen cam file.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,
