We have heard this feedback before but have a bit of trouble pin-pointing it so that's why I am digging into this because we'd love to be able to solve this. Is this only when you use shortcuts, or is it also happening when clicking commands in the toolbar?

hi, i recently switched from eagle to fusion and although i'm happy about many improvements i find it to be slower in terms of workflow. switching between different commands turns out to take a long time, often i have to click 'esc' first in order to be able to select a new command. is that something known?

i'm running it on mac OS 13.6 with plenty of ram and storage, that shouldn't be the cause.

another issue i have is, that the design manager doesn't highlight the component i select. saying that, in contrast to eagle at least now the search in the design manager works, but once the searched component has been filtered and clicked on nothing happens. it does not highlight the component in the schematic. this function works correctly in the layout editor however, but not viceversa. is there a specific reason for that which i don't see or is it simply a bug?

thanks in advance for your help.

Hi there!

When you say it is slow to switch components, could you give a bit more detail on this? It would definitely be interesting to know what is going on and see if we can improve. Is this specific to a certain command or a general issue? If possible could you share a video of this?

For the issue you mention related to components not being highlighted, make sure the "highlight in design" setting is turned on:

hi Pieter, thank you for the super fast response and solution on the highlighting issue, much appreciated!

as to switching commands (not components), let's say when i switch back and forth between shortcuts like 'move', 'name', 'value', but also things like 'copy', 'paste' and others there is often (maybe 1 out of 4 times) a significant delay until it lets me proceed with the new operation. often i have to click one or two times in an empty area first (schematic editor), sometimes even need to click 'esc' first in order to continue with the new operation. it almost appears as if the old command needed to be deactivated first. let me know if that makes sense to you or i can provide a video later.

the issue is particularly apparent when i switch back and forth between 'name' (my shortcut 'shift-command-n') and 'value' (my shortcut "command-3'). it actually doesn't allow me to switch between those two commands without clicking in an empty area first AND then pressing 'esc'. selecting the respective toolbar command works without a problem.

Would you please share more about your hardware?

Screen size & resolution of your Mac?

Any external display connected? If yes, what's the size & resolution of it.

Could you try the following attempts to see if the commands switching issue is still reproducible?

Turn off High DPI setting in preferences and restart Fusion to try again.

Disconnect external device if any and try again.

Beside, do you think it's a regression or design specific issue? Could you share us a video to show the issue? Thank you!

Here's more info on my run of a mill system, mac studio, Apple M2 Max chip with 64Gb memory. The monitor is a Dell U3818, 37.5-inch (3840 × 1600). Nothing else connected besides an audio interface.

So I disabled hi res and restarted, but it didn't change anything. What do you mean by "regression or design specific issue"?

Thanks for sharing us the video to explain the issue.

I can reproduce it now. The key point is we should not move mouse off the component when use hot keys to switch command value/name. I will report this issue to our development team for a resolution.
