However, in library editor mode, the thermal via option is not available. It can only be found in the PCB layout editor. Could you tell me where you found the thermal via option in the library editor mode, please? Also, I couldn't find the violators mode option.

Hi @spwesengineering,

I hope you're doing well. So what you wan to do is add thermal vias, it's not a via stitch using the new feature. The addition of thermal vias is best done in the library editor.

If you need a quick solution, you can set the violators mode to ignore violators and you can place vias where you need them on the pad. This is not recommended since it's a one-off solution but if you are in a rush it's viable.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

I noticed this issue today. I use a via-in-pad process and have the drc clearance for vias to smds set to 0. It would be nice to be able to have via stitching work in this case.

Hello @spwesengineering ,

I hope you're doing well. I should have been more precise, you use through-hole pads to create the thermal vias. The thermal pad is made up of multiple through hole pads enclosed by a polygon to create the arbitrary pad shape. This is an area of footprint creation that could definitely be improved.

For now this is the way to achieve what you want. See this article for more info about arbitrary pad shapes.
