Hi,

Hi All,

I hope everyone is doing well. We appreciate your participation in the forum on behalf of all Fusion Team members. Our teams closely monitor these forums to learn more about your design needs, which helps us develop more efficient features. If you recently launched Autodesk Fusion, you will notice an update notification. To get more information on the update, please click Help/What’s New to access the blog with more details.

Signal or Net Class Color Code Selection

I wanted to let you know about the new feature in Fusion Electronics. A highly requested feature has now been implemented and works very well.
What does it do?
This feature allows you to assign colors to your Signal/Traces or Net Class in addition to the color layer selection.

How does it work
After selecting a signal or a trace, you can assign colors to a particular Trace/Signal or a Net Class. This will vastly empower you to document your PCB better for efficient troubleshooting or following critical signals along the circuit board. Switching between standard and Color Code mode is as easy as pressing Shift – A. To assign a color to a trace or a signal, select the signal and change the color from the Inspector Panel or assign the color from the trace properties dialog box.

The color code capabilities are not only limited to signal/traces. You can also assign a color to Net Class. A net class classification can be assigned to multiple signals on the PCB and will follow the specifically assigned Design Rules for Clearance, Wire Width, and Via properties.

Why use Signal/Trace, Net Class Color Code

Color-coded traces and signals make it significantly easier to identify and follow specific signals across your PCB, especially in complex designs. By assigning unique colors to different nets or Net Class groups, you can quickly isolate and troubleshoot them. Color coding enhances your PCB layout's overall readability and visual organization.

Try it out, and you will quickly discover its usefulness while working on your design. Again, we appreciate your participation. Keep innovating and letting us know about it.

Best Regards,

Ed
