Moving traces between layers

There desperately needs to be a way to move trace segments - any or all segments in a trace - between layers, keeping the width and other parameters and automatically adding or subtracting vias. I have a board routed, and for impedance reasons I have to have all of a few traces on the same layer. This, in turn, means that I have to move other traces.

Two other thoughts:

It would be nice if, when clicking on the end of a trace (after having removed part of it) the routing tool would set the width to be what the trace is already.
When moving traces around, the traces tend to fragment into lots of small segments. These should really be rejoined when they're linear. It's a pain to pick up what should be a single long trace segment and only moving one small part. Also, when routing fine components, the traces tend to fragment near the pad, and end up causing stubs during rules checking.

Hi @pblase ,

1) This is possible hold ctrl (or cmd) and left click and it should pick up the current width and continue routing.

2) Hmm.... Normally optimize takes care of this. Go into Preferences > General > Electronics > Misc do you have the optimizing checkbox checked? If not that the issue.

Hi @pblase ,

Please note that you can change the layer of an already routed segment through the CHANGE command (or the 'C' shortcut), if I understand what you were originally looking for. There is also a cumbersome way of right clicking the segment, and changing the layer in the Properties window. Both automatically add/subtract vias as necessary. Pro tip: the CHANGE command works with multiple segments/signals selected and Ctrl+Right click.
