Adding NAME and VALUE to footprint

I have added >NAME to tNames layer and >VALUE to tValues layer to a footprint that was missing them.

I have updated my PCB with the new version of the library but cannot get them to show on the 2d PCB

What do I still need to do

Hi @mike.lerwill,

I hope you're doing well. Use the AUTOPOSITION attributes command and that will restore the name and value text to their proper positions on the symbol/footprint.

Thanks, I thought this was what I needed but it wasn't working for me.

I tried again this morning and now understand what I was doing wrong.

In case it helps others, I was selecting the component I wanted to change and then choosing the autoposition attributes which did nothing. If I cancelled the selection then activated autoposition attributes and then selected the component it did work

I am also trying to add a ">NAME" field to my custom footprints in my component libraries. But I do not see any way to execute "Autoposition Attributes" or access the "Attributes" menu when I am adding text to the footprint. Can you post photos showing how where to find the Attributes settings?

Hi @jackN6ET5 ,

So the easiest way to create these attributes in a footprint/symbol is run the set_name_value.ulp that comes with Fusion electronics. You'll find it in the Utilities menu> ULP when editing a footprint or symbol in the library.

Did you saved the changed library before UPDATE in the pcb?

That script ran no problem. It added the >NAME and >VALUE objects which showed up in the layout editor. Thank you!
