9.7.0 implies Fusion but the fact that changing it to 9.2.0 works seems to imply that you are working in EAGLE. Could you clarify the provinance of the CAM file?

In summary 9.7.0 is only for Fusion while anything less will be for normal EAGLE. Depending on where you are opening the file you need to use the appropriate CAM job.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hello,

I have an issue with creating CAM files (Output Job for PCB layout). I created my own file, and it has been working fine for months. I then wanted to make a modification (just changing an output name) and after saving it, I encountered a compatibility problem (message: "This current output job is not compatible with the current board!").
I did a little research and by simply modifying the version of the *.cam file (using Notepad, at the end of the file, changing "version": "9.7.0" to "version": "9.2.0"), it works fine.
I would like an explanation of how to update my board so that it works with a CAM file in version 9.7.0, or how to avoid this error if I create a new CAM output file.

Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks for the response. What’s strange is that I’m only using Fusion – I don’t use EAGLE at all. So I’m encountering this compatibility issue directly in Fusion with version 9.7.0.

You’ll find the contents of the CAM file below (it couldn’t be attached — strange). I’ve removed my name and email address.
Thanks for your support!

{
"author": {
"email":

I encounter the same issue. And it is easy to reproduce:
* In CAM Processor, load the 2-Layer template provided by Fusion

* Save it under your own name without any modifications

* Load that CAM file again and you get that error message.

"This CAM Output job file is not compatible with the current board. Please use a board with extended layer support."

AND interestingly by modifying the version number to 9.2.0 of that saved file, it loads then without that error. This lets assume that the template uses a lower version number than 9.7.0.

Hi @bernd.greifeneder ,

Remember that now Fusion can support up to 64 copper layers. The default CAM jobs have been setup to work with that limit in mind. If you open a legacy file with only a 16 layer limit you'll get that message.

In the CLI typing

upgradelayers

followed by the enter key will update the design to use the new layer limit.

Try it and let me know if you continue to run into problems.

Thank you Jorge,

that did indeed the trick!

so "upgradelayers" in the CLI is the solution to that problem.

Thx,

Bernd
