I had a working design with schematic and PCB. Both files were saved and Fusion 360 shut down.

After restarting Fusion 360 and loading the PCB and schematic files they are no longer linked and I cannot find how to fix this.

Now if I try to continue with the routing the airwires are missing.

Thanks in advance.

This is a bug, I've been experiencing it for a few weeks, it appears that something is wrong with the cloud side of things.

I think the devs are finally accepting this is an issue and not related to how people are saving.

I'm not sure there is a workaround just yet, I even tried exporting the whole design and re-importing it into a new folder, but that still carries over the same "unsaved" changes.

It does appear to only affect the schematic though from what I can work out.

Hi christopher.tipney,

Your participation on the Fusion 360 forum is greatly appreciated. From the schematic editor command line type the command "Export Netscript". This will generate a script file of all the connections defined in the schematic. Make sure to save the script file in a known path with the extension (.scr).

From the Fusion 360 board editor, use the SCRIPT command and select the script file you just created in the schematic to import all the connections (script file).

This will fix your annotation issue as long as the only problem you were econtering were connections.

Best Regards,

Ed

Hi christopher.tipney

Thanks for you to post this issue!

Could you please try to open the relative the electronics design when you want to modify schematic and PCB2d? The link is working only when the electronics design is opened. The reason is the schematic could be shared with different electronics design files.

If you already opened the electronics design, but the issue is still there. It's a bug. Could you please share us some screenshots? We need some information to know more about this issue and try to fix it as soon as possible.

If you still meet this issue, you can try this workflow, maybe it could cure your files and you can continue your work.

1. Create a new electronics design

2. Reference the same schematic

3. Reference the same PCB2d

The link should be made again, then you can save all of them to continue your work.

Help it could make help. 🙂

Hi Spragut,

Thanks for you to point it out and supply the workaround.
I'm not understand the "Unsaved" changes your mentioned very well. Did you see there is a "*" in file name on the file tab( It means this document is dirty and there are some unsaved changes)? Which file have this issue, schematic, PCB2d or both?

Those information are very important to us to fix this issue as soon as possible. If you could share some screenshots for us, it could be better.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the reply - that does indeed bring in the schematic data but the PCB board and the schematic are still not linked. In the data panel for each file there is a drop down that shows 'History', 'Uses', 'Used By' and 'Drawings' info.

In both cases (Schematic and board design) the 'Uses' and 'Used by' state there are no files referenced - presumably this should show the links - can this be fixed?

I don't want to have to run the Export Netscripts command each time I make a change to the schematic - I thought the whole point is they are kept in sync at all times.

Best regards,

Chris

There has been a suggestion to use 'Export Netscript' from the schematic and run this script within the board editor but this doesn't fix the broken link(s).

Lets hope this can be fixed soon !

Hi Cathy,

I tried your suggestion i.e.

1. Create a new electronics design

2. Reference the same schematic

3. Reference the same PCB2d

So now I have a design that uses both of my previous files (the schematic and the PCB2D) - so if I make changes to either of those files and save will the new design keep all of the files in sync?

Thanks for your help,

Chris

I can consistently repeat the outcome.

I just noticed your reply mentioning the suggestion to create a new project and link the files. Oddly I was just trying the same suggestion and I still get the same issue. 2DPCB & 3DPCB kept the changes this time round but the schematic hasn't saved. And I'm looking at a V2 file for the schematic so assuming the imported file was V1 then it saved. The preview window shows the changes..

I think I'm going to wait this one out before I attempt anything else, I've lost count the number of times I've laid out the same circuit, even if creating a new project looks to work the first time whats to say it doesn't break after spending hours working on it.
