Hi @_Marek,

Did you try pressing Shift and then left clicking the trace? We already have that implemented. Remember that in this scenario you still need to be able to conform to the rules so for the netclass value you would set it to 10mils. Remember that with the new DRC you can further constrain the rules beyond just netclasses.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hi,

Sometimes I don't want to assign extra Net Class to single wire. When airwire is partially drawn, clicking on its end (manual route mode) doesn't change trace width. Recently used will be applied. This is ok.

For now, in order to continue drawing along airwire with existing segment width, first I have to check its size in property panel, next go to "route manual", type in this size by hand and then continue drawing. In my opinion Ctrl+Click at the end of segment should copy trace width to "route manual" panel.

Hello @_Marek,

I hope you're doing well. You likely have the Auto Set Route Width setting off, could you try turning it on and seeing if it automatically picks up the existing width of the trace. You'll find it under Preferences > Electronics > Misc.

Let me know if you continue to run into problems.

Best Regards,

You are right - I have the Auto Set Route Width setting off.

This is because in this case the routing width is tightly bounded to Net-Class definition, instead of route's widths. For example I have component which consumes huge power and another component which measures voltage drop on resistor. So I expect 2 different sizes of the same signal: huge widths for driver and very narrow widths for measuring element. Net Class is the same.

For now - if Net Class defines 100 mils per route, but I expect 10 mils for measuring element, I must struggle with every click to reduce size of each new segment to 10 mils. If I decide to continue routing 100 mils segment, I would expect expect from tool to derive size of the route. The same, if 10 mils segment will be processed - 10 mils should be derived as default size.

In order to avoid user confusion, sampling of the width should activated consciously by the user - by pressing eg Shift before start routing.
