topic Publicly shared library in Fusion Electronics Forum

Hello!

Hoping someone can advise on a workflow:

I intend to open source a group of designs, and as part of that I will want to make my custom component libraries publicly available. I’m working solely in Fusion360 Electronics. Whats’s the best way to accomplish this? Is it library.io?

Thanks!

Thanks for any advice you all can offer.

Hi, @thecustomcab

Share the library to public with Fusion team hub is an easy to do that.

Just need to click on the web icon on your data panel and then generate the link from web page.

Thanks,

Thanks! That looks easy. There's even an 'embed' option for those of use sticking things like this into a blog post.

One question: Are these links unique to the item being shared, or does it apply public access to everything else in the folder?

Similarly, I see there isn't an option to share a folder. While I see how this public share option works for a singular item like a library, how would it work for a mechanical assembly made up of multiple fusion files?

Can you clarify the rules that are applied?

thanks!

Hi, @thecustomcab

By default, this link is shared with anyone. You can switch the permission of download and availibity of password from two switchers under privacy settings.

Yeah, both Fusion team hub and library.io site don't allow sharing a public folder, the recommended way is to invite users to join in your team hub/ library.io folder.

For the assembly files you mentioned, you could share public link from right-click menu in data panel, when others are viewing it on a web browser, download archived f3z is also allowed if you have not turned it off in the privacy setting.

Thanks,

The Electronics side makes sense.

I'll make some tests of assemblies with linked components and ping you back if I have more questions.

I appreciate the help!
