Hello @ilia.vitsnudel ,

I hope you're doing well. Check your grid settings and make sure they are fine enough to let you place the hole where you want it.

I'm glad you were able to get the part made, but rectangles in the library editor are problematic because they don't carry netlist information. Your better off using the offset pad shape and enclosing it in a polygon on the top and bottom layers.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hello,

I am trying to create a simple pad with a hole and add to it to my library. In the Footprint tool I can find Polygon shape in the Draw tab, but I don't see how I can make a hole in it. There is a hole option in the Place tab, but I would like to see the visible hole in the pad like in the attached figure.

Thank you for your help,

Ilia Vitsnudel

Hello @ilia.vitsnudel,

So in the library, you can use an offset pad as the basis for something like this. Then enclose the offset pad inside a rectrangular polygon. We call these arbitrary pad shapes, you can find out more about them here:

Thank you, Jorge.
I have managed to make a desired pad by using a combination of wide circle with four rectangles of proper sizes around the circle.
I have another small question. I am a new to Fusions electronic design, so in my board I need to make a few holes. I am trying to use the Hole (a through hole) in the footprint design, and I can set the correct hole diameter, but when I press the left click the hole just doesn’t stick, it is like nothing happens. I have tried to switch to a single drill or hole layer, but nothing helps.

Thank you again,
Ilia Vitsnudel
