draw a circle on tRestrict layer

I was used to working in Eagle, and I am making the switch to Fusion 360 Electronics...

But i can't find how to draw a circle, except for the board outline...

Need to make circles on tRestrict around screw holes.

Any help would be appriciated.

Hi @PeterA4L ,

I hope you're doing well. You can find the CIRCLE command in the Document menu in both the schematic and 2D PCB editors. I just tried to do this and was able to.

You can also type the word circle in the command line and press enter.

Hi,

I am having an issue with this as well, except that I know how to draw a circle, and I wish to place that circle on the tRestrict layer to mask out copper around a screw hole as well.

ButFUSION - Restrict BUGEAGLE - Correct

I think there is a BUG in Fusion, The restriction only happens around the circumference of the circle and the copper poor still fills INSIDE the circle, which is NOT what is should do.

Can you please see if this is a bug?

My current design was brought into fusion , and in EAGLE it works fine, but fusion is having an issue.

Hi @ImDaveM ,

When you draw the circle in Fusion 360 make sure to set it's width to zero. Setting the width to zero makes the circle fill in and behave as a proper mask.

I don't seem to get that!

If i set the width to zero , I still get the problem, (and you cannot change the line width in the insector!) you can only change it in the properties window! Which is also a bug.

BUG ?

I was able to create a work around by having a larger line width and a smaller radius, but that's a silly way to do it. but i had to get the job done!

I hope you're doing well. That is an interesting behavior, I haven't seen that happen. Try unpouring the polygon and then re-pouring it. The tRestrict filled in as expected when you set the width to 0, the polygon just didn't react it seems in this case.

Hi Jorge,

I just tried your suggestion to toggle the pour off and on, and its still failing to draw the restrict properly.

Can you please investigate this?
Also , if you try and change the LINE WIDTH in the inspector, to zero it will not change, as I said before, you have to use the Properties window to make that change.

Maybe i have another setting in my DRC or the FILL Layer that's causing the problem?

I have noticed though if you draw a rectangle ( with the rectangle tool) it behaves properly, it's the circle tool that has this issue.

I can reproduce the issue. I think it's a bug.

@ImDaveM, a workaround is you can add another 0-width circle on top layer at the same position.

thanks for looking at this, Have you filed it as a bug in the system to get rectified?

Thanks for the work around tip, I had my own work around just using the one circle, two circles could get confusing especially trying to select them for editing.

So one can draw a circle, but with no way to control the diameter it's of little use?

Once one learns to use Fusion it's a shame that so much knowledge has to be discarded when doing electronic design. The folks who installed Eagle into Fusion should have become Fusion users first, so they could understand the existing tools.

For example, in Fusion if you type D and then click on a circle it will tell you the diameter. If you don't like the diameter you can type a new number. In Eagle D will give you the diameter, but if you don't like it then — too bad — it is what it is, and your stuck with it.

Learning one situation and then applying that knowledge to another situation is, of course, called "positive transfer". That concept seams have gotten lost in this product. Much of what I've learned in Fusion is of little value in embedded Eagle. It feels like a square peg forced into a round hole, if I may be so bold.

I must say there are some remarkable features in the application. Very noticeable going from Eagle 6 to Fusion/Eagle as I have, but I'm hoping you can make the transition form Fusion to Fusion/Eagle more seamless as time goes on.
