I noticed this error only when our contract manufacturer pointed out that they were missing PnP info for one part.

So when the part does not have any copper pads, it won't show up in the Pick and Place file.

Same part, when the copper pads are added, it shows up.

The part in question is a lightpipe, so it would be inserted with a PnP machine, but won't have any traces added to it.

Part is created exactly same as any other working part in the library.

Please see the screenshot where the same part has a two different footprints. M1 is the proper part with no pads and M2 is a variant package with just two generic pads added. Only M2 shows up on the PnP file.

Hope this will be fixed, as the CAM export is an important piece of the workflow.

Cheers!

Hi @phaggren ,

I hope you're doing well. There are several different PnP tools available in Fusion 360 the one that ships by default does not include objects that don't have pads by design. With that said, it's likely one of the other ULPs does cover this. I would recommend trying the mount_smd_tht.ulp or plain mount.ulp.

Let me know if you continue to run into problems.

Best Regards,

Hi Jorge!

Thank you again for your swift answer.

I will look at those ULPs.

It would be great if these options would be somehow integrated into to CAM processor itself.

I would expect all the parts to be included (as they do appear on BOM export) in the PnP file unless specifically warned/given a tickbox that they are excluded.

There is no way to know what parts are included without checking each part on the PnP file.

This confusion can lead to very expensive issues with boardhouses, especially now, during the chip shortage.

I think ULPs are great community addition, but I feel there is a certain disconnect with the Fusion360 electronics and the ULPs, atleast to us who did not come from EAGLE background. As a user I would like to only use Fusion360 functions in basic actions without venturing into custom scripts.

Cheers!
