Hi @paul.skaarTB47U ,

I hope you're doing well. The fact that you needed to use the synchronizer indicates that at some point the backward and forward annotation between the schematic and 2D PCB was broken. Once that happens this type of inconsistency becomes possible where you have a component on the board that isn't reflected on the schematic.

That's what I think happened here, one of the two editors was closed(likely the board) and you continued working on the other. The part was deleted from the schematic but continued to exist on the board. Now you have an inconsistency and that's what the synchronizer was trying to resolve.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I figured out a workaround but I am very curious to correct this:

When I run Synchronize on my electronics design, a device that does not appear on any list within the project shows up as something to be removed (see pic attached) The remove script chokes and unless I uncheck this, all associated scripts called will choke too. I'd love to be able to find this part in the design and delete it but no can do: please help.

Found a little more info to add to this mystery:

The part does not make any device list in the design but a colleague found it in the 2D layout. We were able to delete it in the 2D layout and the synchronize issue goes away. Its not clear to me how a device is missing from schematic and BOM but stays on a layout. Any ghost busters out there?

Thanks Jorge. I appreciate how quickly you answered that one.

In the machine controls industry we'd say "there might oughta be an interlock on that device" ( e.g. "well pardner you can't very well delete that device here 'cuz'n you don't have the 2d open") The more I use this software the more I like it _and_ the more I find that could use some attention. Y'all can count on my patience for at least a couple more years while you fight the valiant fight that this marriage must be.

Cheers!

Hi @paul.skaarTB47U,

Thanks for the encouragment and support. So the interesting thing here is that if both the schematic and board editor are open together then you will be locked, you will not be allowed to delete a part on the board and will be told to go delete it in the schematic.

Thank you for your feedback and I look forward to more discussion here on the forums. In the meantime one key tenet of working with Fusion 360 Electronics is making sure to keep the electronics design file, schematic, and board open together at all times that you are working in Electronics. Doing so will avoid the loss of consistency.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
