Project a sketch on a curved surface...

Hello, sometimes it hard to search informations on the web. I want to project sketch lines on a surface. See picture. Fusion can do it i know. But it does not allow me to do it. The sketch "Frette 25" should be projected on the fretboard face (curved) but i got an error Warning: Not support projecting sketch geometry into same sketch, please change the target sketch or geometry.

Though fretboard is not in the same sketch than frette 25

It means exactly what it says.

Project your source sketch - 2d geometry, into a destination 3d sketch that uses the surface and it is usually empty at the time we do this.

Two sketches, project 1st to 2nd.

Hi Gunther, yes it works but i have to make 21 split face operations. I saw i video (but i don't find it back) where he projected a sketch with the lines on the fretboard, but it did not work for me, and i don't remember why...

If i select all the lines as splitting tool i have an error "compute failed"

Except that he imports a dxf, he does exactly what i want to do, why can't i do it on my example? It's not from a sketch to a sketch, it's from a sketch to a an existing body's surface, and it does work for him...

That is an older interface and no timeline being used, and he is working in a 3d sketch,

OK, ok, i believe you, i'm just a newby. Older interface, sure, but 3d sketch? The sketch he creates on the offset plane above the fretboard is a 3d sketch? I just want to do it on my project.

No, the source lines (blue ones) are in a planar (2d) sketch, and Finish that sketch. Sketch XX

With the Timeline on, creating a new sketch requires a plane to be selected, any one would do but is required. It helps - not to select the same plane as the Sketch XX was made on.

Your new sketch when opened, (is Sketch xx+1) is empty, then we select Project to surface, you select the surface, Fusion is then ready to Project the other sketch lines, you select them, hit ok. By definition your purple lines are now conforming to the surface, the purple lines are not in the same sketch as the blue lines.

Warning message is talking about this process.

A single line does not create a profile to extrude as a solid or cut. You should be able to extrude as a surface however.

Actually, i've projected also circles, and i can't select them... They are purple, and unselectable...

what do you mean you can't select the projected circles? Can't select them at all, or cannot select them in, say, the Extrude command? The latter is expected. Extrude requires a 2D profile.

That the projected geometry is purple is also expected - projected geometry is always purple, which is how you tell it is selected.
