Change order of components in parts tree

Hello,

I have some complex assemblies with lots of linked components, and the tree on the left hand side builds up in the order the parts are imported.

I have now got to the stage where critical components are sitting 50 places down the tree, in amongst a load of screws and pins. I need to really organise all the major large components together at the top. I don't seem to be able to drag the component to a new place in the tree, which feels like it should work.

Any ideas how to do this?

Hi,

1. import parts directly into the (activated) assembly to which they should belong

2. Create one or more components and insert screws, bolts ... into them

Hi,

Unfortunately, that does not really solve the problem. Im fine with having all the bolts and pins separately, that works well with our assembly drawings and motion links, rendering, BOMs etc.

As seen in the screen shot below, we have a bunch of pins, screws, washers etc, then right in the middle of that is a critical machined component (starts EVF01.....). That component really needs to be ordered in the tree with all the other similar components, but I can't drag it up and down, its stuck frozen in time in the order the parts were imported.

Surely it should be possible to just drag it to change the order, like you do when re ordering operations in the cam environment?

Of course, the order does not make a real difference, it just makes things neater and easier to find.

Hi,

with linked assemblies you can achieve a lot by moving them in the timeline

Yes, I can see how that would work, but that really isnt the right solution
here, I don't understand why you can't just drag them up and down the tree!
It seems so simple.

Hopefully autodesk add this.
