Hi @Anonymous ,

Hope below justification will help you;
User can review the drawing setup through Document Settings -
As seen in the document setting - Standard/Units/Projection Angle is not editable within the same drawing session.
BUT
- display of dimension Unit (though document settings)
- adding alternate units through edit dimension (dimension edit) is possible

Also, overwriting the dimension value <xx.xxin> is possible but this can not be restored.

So this may not serve the purpose of what you are looking for.

Thanks & regards
Amit Suryawanshi

My model is being created in Feet and Fractional feet. In setup I have assigned the drawing to follow the model dimensions. But whenever I create the drawings I get inches as dimensions. I thought I could double click and overwrite the dimension but apparently that is not the solution.

Allan Steinkuhl

I may be missing something.

On the modeling side, I have set the dimensions in Preferences to FEET. The model works as expected. When the model is transferred into the drawing environment, it comes in as inches, the default I have set. When I go into the Preferences, in the Drawing environment, there are only two options. Inches and Millimeters.

I attempted to double click on the dimension to change in the local image to feet and inches. My double clicking only gets greyed dimensions that cannot be modified.

Allan Steinkuhl

Is it possible to share an image/video to understand this issue, if the query not related to override option shown below?
note - unchecking the override option means - user is OK with default values and it restores the manual overrides.

Hi,

The solution you suggest doesn't answer the intented purpose of the question.
We want to be able to have a cotation in feet and inch.
We want to be able to select between "feet", "in", "mm" and "m" for the unit in the drawing workspace to get a better understanding of what I see on the plan. "5254 in" is telling me nothing, but "438feet"does.
It is kind of weird that you can do "generative design", which show that Fusion360 want to keep update to the latest available technologie, but can't do a simple conversion in a workspace.
I understand that fusion is not meant for "Architectural" project, but for an hobbyist, that will use it for one cottage, that would be nice. I can assure you, that professional will have to buy your Architectural solution. It will be way more cost effective for them. For me, who bought the full version of Fusion360, it would really help me to not have to spend more money and time of learning on a new software.

So, here is my question: why is it taking forever (I saw archived post from 2017) to get the possibilitie to have the cotation in "feet" and/or "meter" in the drawing workspace?

Thank you for your time!

It would be most helpful to provide your customers with more options in terms of drawings measurements so that projects can be communicated more easily.

Feet, inches, fractional feet and inches, millimeters, centimeters, and meters are all necessary.

You can dimension Fusion drawing is either Feet and Decimal Inches or Feet and Fractional Inches now. It is just a matter of setting your Dimensional Settings.
