Hatching in a sketch

It would be really helpful if you could hatch a closed area in a sketch to then be shown in the drawing environment.

I know you can create a section drawing of the model and it will get hatched, but when making a design that is basically a 2D design, you might want to create a hatched area to indicate different machining settings for example.

I ended up just colouring the faces and setting the drawing to shaded, but it's not really what I want.

I don't have access to Autocad so I cannot import a DXF file with the hatch areas done externally.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Sketches are provided to create features such as bodies or profiles.
If you only need the sketch to make a drawing from it, you only need to make a minimal extrusion from it and you have what you need in the drawing.
Hatching is reserved for drawings and in my opinion has no place in sketches.

Hi there.

In that case, it would be helpful if you could select that closed area/face in the drawing environment to be able to hatch it.

Also, you might want to add an indication that certain face or part of the sketch is not finished or needs revising when working on a collaborative project.

The colouring doesn't show if you use a detailed view in the drawing environment.

Seems like fantasy can't do it all.
