topic Advanced Texture Settings in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

Would someone be able to explain what type of images are meant to go in the different advanced texture settings? i.e. What images would you set for Roughness, Translucency, Emissivity, Relief Pattern (Bump), Cutout, and Advanced Highlight Controls?

In other words, if you download a texture with multiple image files in it, what other standard words might be matched up to which of those settings?

eg. I downloaded a texture with four files: "Displacement", "Normal", "Specular", and the regular image. Not quite sure what to apply those to.

A related question, does anyone know of a go-to resource for 3rd party textures that can be used effectively in Fusion? I'm particularly struggling right now to make large areas of flooring look realistic, either as hardwood flooring or concrete.

Hmm, no luck on this? I can't find documentation of it anywhere either.

First of all, this is a pretty deep subject and probably too involved to cover here in depth.

Also, the images contained in the texture might not perfectly match the slots you have in Fusion 360. Often texture packs are created to match a specific software package, say V-RAY.

But ...

You already discovered that the textures can be edited and in order to fill the slots you'll have to go to the advanced panels.

Your "regular" image will define the diffuse reflection and goes into the "image" slot.

The "specular" image goes into the "roughness" slot. You will likely have to adjust parameters to get the effect you are looking for.

The "normal map" goes into the image slot in the "relieve pattern (bump)". As it is a normal map you can set the "Advanced -> Data type" from "Height Map" to "Normal Map".

Fusion 360 does not offer a slot for the functionality of displacement maps.

Thank you so much for the stellar explanation. I'll give those match-ups a try. Do you know of a good resource to learn more about this topic? And any particular sources for quality texture downloads?

Most useful. Doesnt quite match the panels on the latest version, but I think ive now managed to get some depth to a stone wall ive been trying to do in the render feature.
ANDY
