Hello,

I'm trying to design a lower suspension arm for my RC car as my graduation project. The idea is to have the part designed using Generative Design.

My problem is, that it ignores the preserve geometry and doesn't add it to the preview of the GD model as seen in the attachment. I can't seem to find the problem and have tried increasing the synthesis resolution and playing around with the structural loads and trying out different constraints on the preserve geometry. I also tried adding an axle that goes through the two pieces which it should preserve on the wider end but it doesn't seem to help at all.

The material is AlSi10Mg and the goal is to minimze mass.

I'd be really thankfull for any help. Thanks.

Philip

Hi @Anonymous ,

Your preview is correct,

all you see as a shadow joining the green parts (preserve) is the join structure that you are going to calculate, but the green parts are also going to be in the design in addition to the shadowed shape.

Your design will be the “shadow”+green-red.

Also tell you that you will need more obstacle geometry (red) to secure the center and rear holes as you did with the front ones.

Look the attached images to know how the previewer works.

Kind regards
