Sketch 2 is 3d sketch, not best practise, some blue articles, but seems constrained.

Change board thickness breaks it.

Sketch 4 is 3d sketch, all blue, with all function dimensions in it,

But you can't do it like this, when you change 18 to 16, The 494 will stop you, and 494 or 530 must be deleted.

Same for all of your model like this part, 3 dimension will work but 4 stops movements.

Hello,

I'm new to Fusion360 and I'm having trouble with my parametric design.I sketched up a nice looking shelf and even produced a proper cutlist/BOM using ad-ins. However when I searched my local hardware stores stock I saw that they don't have the same thickness fibreboards as I initially planed on using. Lucky I used parameters to accommedate from the beginning. Not so lucky is that I apparently set up some design-flaws that prevent Fusion from properly calculating the desing after adjusting my parameters. From my 9 fav parameters I can only adjust 3 without breaking my design.

kind regards

These 6 parameters are the ones that I need to adjust but break:

HorizontaleBrettDicke
VertikaleBrettDicke
klFachBrettDicke
grFachBrettDicke
EinzugslaufBreite
BreiteSchubladenInnenLeiste

What can I do to fix this design and what can I do to prevent my future designs to run into the same issue?

kind regards

So I checked the length in the picture and 530 and 494 are both parameters - SchubladenTiefe and klSchubladenInnenTiefe respectivly and klSchubladenInnenTiefe being derived from SchubladenTiefe and the thickness of the boards on either side.

I checked some of the other sketches and encountered similar situations, when there's 4 dimensions like this most of them are parameters and derived. Shouldn't the length then be recalculated to fit again?

Hey @Anonymous ,

Not sure exactly where to start...

1. You need more training and focus on F360 Best Practice!

2. You must fix your warnings on the Timeline. You have deleted some reference sketches or something and that's why you got the warnings.

3. Instead of copy and pasting bodies, learn how to use the Mirror and Pattern commands.

4. When designing an assembly in F360 you design the Components In-Place.

5. I can give you private lessons if you want?

Cheers / Ben.

In my picture there are no dimensions as derived in (brackets) each of those dimensions are Driving the sketch. 494 as information can be (fx: 494.00).

No blue lines. You have 3d sketch, I don’t know. Planar sketches work for me.

Your reply really helped me move in the right direction. I started from scratch using planar sketches and used as few constrains as possible while keeping the sketch consistent (i.e. no blue sketch lines).

Using patterns and mirroring mentioned in another reply also made the workflow much faster.

Now I have a working model. Thank you all!
