I read this post differently than the others - I read it as the aesthetics of sketch dimension placement as you would have in a detail drawing (2D documentation). If I am understanding the issue correctly - there is no way to control. Just a zoom in or out would destroy your best laid plans.

Having said that, the Fusion developers should walk across the hall and talk to their Autodesk Inventor Professional teammates. Those folks have had this issue figured out much nicer since before Fusion was even born.

Hi!

I absolutely cannot find an option for this: is there a way to snap dimensions to grid? Or make them behave in any other ordered fashion (for example, stay in one line).

Thanks!

I pressed send too early, I'm sorry. The other q is about labels: I know that on vertical ones the value is presented on either side of the line, and it depends on the direction of selecting points (however with selecting a line it's random). Is there a way to:

- flip the value to the other side of the line,

- make the value stick to the centre of the dimension line?

Thanks.

At the bottom of your screen, go to grids and snaps and select snap to grid.

Learn to use constraints along with dimensions. It makes it much easier to make changes without the design falling apart. I switch between metric and imperial quite a bit as 3d printing needs millimeters, but most stock in the US is imperial. Snapping to a grid would be a nightmare 😀

Thank you and yes, that was my point. It’s not a big issue but I did notice
I’m spending some silly time making them look better and was wondering if
there’s a better way.

I am not sure if this might solve your problem.

I recently discovered if you click on a dimension it highlights in blue with grey markers pinpointing the intersections of the dimensioning.

If you select a marker which is closest to the measurement (number) and then drag it out, you can position the cursor over the dimension you wish to align to and a green "X" will appear to show that it is in alignment.

Release the mouse button and the dimension should be aligned correctly.
