RAL Colour Libraries Solution

screenshotIt bugged me there's only Pantone Libraries to select in Appearance Editor for colour matching so thought I'd do something about it and share it. The following .zip file contains 5 .txt files:

RAL Classic

RAL Design

RAL Effects

RAL Plastics P1

RAL Plastics P2

Extract the .txt files to the 'PantoneColors' folder which is at C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Common\Material Library\20081401\slib\resource\PantoneColors on my machine.

Restart Fusion and it will add these RAL libraries as an option to the Appearance Colour Library option as in the screen grab.

This is purely for colour selection purposes no different than the Pantone ones offer, it doesn't offer anything more than simply being able to pick & colour match visually by RAL Colour Name/Code. Be aware that RAL Plastics P2 are not solid colours, they are Transparent options because this is primarily used for transparent 3D Printing Filament Plastics. To have transparency, you will need to assign the colour to a factory transparent plastic appearance, it won't do this for you as the file doesn't contain this information and neither does the Pantone ones either. RAL Metallics are obviously an RGB representation only. Hope this is of use to some. If anyone spots anything wrong let me know. The data has had to be collated from various sources as RAL don't just make it available for free. All CIE L*a*b* & RGB Values are included just as in the Pantones although I can't determine if they are used or only the RGB values?

I've asked on the Expert Elite Slack channel whether these contributions can be added permanently to Fusion 360. Seems this should be dead easy!

I followed the below path, \PantoneColors folder was not there, so i just made one and added the TXT files inside, hs not reflected on fusion 360 in the appearances tab

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Common\Material Library\20081401\slib\resource\PantoneColors

Try 22060201\slib\resource

Or, in the future, just look for the directory with the highest number in Material Library
